Vintage Boudoir is something you’ve got to try. I wanted to know more about this unique type of photography so I contacted an expert on this topic, Melissa Braden owner of M&M Photography in Colorado Springs, CO.

Melissa was the first person to turn me onto vintage photography. In fact, she did an Anniversary Vintage Shoot for my husband and I back in 2011.

Meet Melissa Braden Vintage Fanatic and Professional Photographer.

Teila – Melissa Braden you seem to have an undying unadulterated appreciation for vintage art. In fact, you dress as if you walked off the studio of a Lucille Ball shoot. Where do you credit your fashion sense? Where does this appreciation of vintage come from?

Melissa- I have to credit the Rockabilly girls from the Peaks and Pasties Burlesque troop in Colorado. I have a really good friend that performs with them and I started to go to the show to support her, and I fell in love with the look!

Teila – So what is Vintage Boudoir photography and what is it all about?

Melissa- Boudoir Photography is fun and M&M Photography has been specializing in Vintage Boudoir for a few years now, my favorites are vintage peek-a-boo shots.

In the 1940’s pin-up girls were the in thing; these images were on everything from aircrafts to match book covers. Today, women both single and taken seek Vintage Boudoir photo shoots, because they are sexy without being too risqué.

This type of photography is a lot of fun and the in thing to do! It is a fantastic way to give your lover a teaser about your fantastic curves as a woman.

Teila – If someone wanted to set up a vintage shoot can you provide suggestions on what to expect or how to prep for it?

Melissa – Expect to have some fun!! You will be nervous at first, but the giggling will start and you will soon forget that you are in front of a camera. The best way to prepare for the shoot is to know what you want. Do your research, look at lots of photos. Think props. The ideas can be endless.
